Originality Isn’t Dead (2017)

Originality Isn’t Dead (and the Machines Will Tell You Why) started out life as a university art project which eventually grew into a small exhibition at the former Coventry Telegraph building in the city’s centre. The project focuses on technology and its use in art, taking heavy inspiration from Brian Eno and a process he coined called ‘generative art’. The images and experimental short film featured below show how technology can be used to process images to make something totally original and far removed from the source material. The entire project was created using an iPhone app called Glitché, this was done deliberately to show how democratised the creative process has become because of our technologically enhanced lives. Nowadays, literally anyone can express themselves with minimal skill or talent, which I think is a beautiful thing.
